In 1978 the tiny town of Crested Butte boasted two newpapers, which was one more newspaper than paved streets. The arrival of the California bicycle contingent could not go unnoticed, and was subjected to local scrutiny and editorial comment. It is pretty clear that the town had no idea what was about to take place, and where this adventure would lead.
