TUTORIAL:

SAVING AN IMAGE FROM

A WEB PAGE TO YOUR DESKTOP

You may want to print out this page, before attempting these steps

NOTE:

  • This instruction sheet is intended to sequentially explain the steps to save an image from a web site to your desktop.
  • You may want to go to FILE and then to NEW --> NAVIGATOR. This opens a second page in Netscape and allows you to use it independently from this page. In this way, you can practice the Saveimage page instructions OR You may want to print out this page, before attempting these steps.
     
     

    So......... you have an image, animation, photo, or movie that you want to add to your paper, stack or page. 

    Netscape has a simple feature that enables this to happen with a simple point and click.

     

    Place your mouse over the image or object you wish to save. 
     
     

    CLICK and hold.

Highlight 

SAVE this Image as...

Then release the mouse button

 

 

 

 


A NEW WINDOW appears

  • select the place you wish image to be saved to
  • you may change the title, but be sure
    to keep the
    .tag portion
  • click on SAVE

images/animations = .gif or .jpg or .bmp

movie = .mov or .avi

Remember that the images you and I find attractive and useful were created somewhere else by someone else.

Some are public domain; some are copyrighted. Most are available for just the few minutes it takes to email and ask permission. All should be acknowledged at least by site [and creator, if possible].
