Objective:

Learning to translate Internet pages to another language

Steps:

1. Open up Netscape or Explorer

 

2. Go to the page that you want to translate

3. Write down the ADDRESS that is in the location box

4. Now, go to http://world.altavista.com

Your new PAGE will look like this:

A. Enter the ADDRESS that you wrote down

in the box under the words Web page. Then, click on the TRANSLATE box.

 

 

 

 

 

Note: DO NOT write http:// twice

B. In a few moments, the new page will be appear.

Click inside the new page once. This makes 'this' frame active.

C. You now have a choice:

You can PRINT the translation by going to FILE and highlighting PRINT FRAME

OR

You can simply read what is in the new 'box', scrolling down as you need to see more

ALTERNATE APPROACH:

You may also go to the page you want to translate and then

  1. GO TO EDIT and highlight SELECT ALL
  2. After all the information on the Internet page is selected, go back to EDIT and select COPY
  3. Follow the directions from step 4. shown above
  4. When the new window appears, CLICK once inside this box, then go to EDIT and highlight PASTE.
    The words will appear in the box. Click TRANSLATE
