June 27  2000, continued.
I have been working on the rest of the interior too, not just the stereo. This is a shot of the new carpet going in. It looks a lot better than the old faded carpet. For the next update, I should have some shots of the seats going in.

I also had the engine pressure washed with hot water. Now you can see the engine a lot better. But this wash job did not touch most of the old grease and oil on the engine. The area around the power steering pump is especially bad, it is a big mess. My present plan is to just leave it that way. I dont want the car to be too nice to drive anyway.

Here are the new wheels and tires. These are all 222/60R15. I like to use four tires of the same size. Surprisingly, the overall diameter of these tires is smaller than the original tires. But not by much. The wheels fit perfectly, they look to me like they really belong on this car. But as far as I know, this is the only Nova  in existence that has these wheels on it.  The tires do not rub anywhere.  You can see the new SS stickers in this shot too. Unfortunately, the one on the other side of the car is messed up. These stickers were NOS, and that means that they were over 20 years old. The outline around the N would not stick to the car on the one bad sticker. I have some new reproduction stickers coming.

You can also see the vinyl  body side molding that I had applied to the car. Carerras autobody painted the molding to match the car before installing it. This is the same kind of molding that my 92 Camaro has in its doors. It is made by a company called Trim Gard, in London Canada. It looks much better to me than the black molding that the car used to have. And I can relax and not worry about my doors getting nicked whenever I park. Here is one full size picture of what the car looks like now. The exterior still needs a couple of finishing touches, so check back later if you are interested.
