Wildlife Fawn Rescue is accepting applications for the salaried position of Animal-Care Coordinator.

Program Overview

Wildlife Fawn Rescue (www.fawnrescue.org) provides a unique, and necessary service to Sonoma County by being the only wildlife facility that is licensed for long term care of deer. We specialize in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of approximately 100 ill, injured and orphaned fawns per year. We offer free wildlife education to Sonoma County children. Fawn Rescue works closely with a pathologist specializing in fawn disease research, which benefits all fawns. We have received six awards in recognition of outstanding contributions for wildlife protection. We are a non-profit, public-benefit, 501 (c)(3), association, licensed since 1989 by the California Department of Fish and Game.

Required

  • Must reside in Sonoma County, homeowner with acreage preferred.

  • California State driver's license required.

Job Description

  • Animal care intense during fawn season - spring and summer months.

  • Administrative work and fawn season preparation - fall and winter months.

  • Complete, long-term training is provided. Volunteers to assist.

Qualifications

  • Position requires animal-care experience and a primary interest in working with wildlife.

  • Inner-strength to understand and work with injured, ill and orphaned wildlife.

  • Ability to communicate well with volunteers and the public

  • Some computer skills required.

  • Long-term, approximately 5 year commitment.

  • Employment/volunteer references.

Responsibilities.

  • Must be available during daylight hours to respond to emergency rescue and administrative calls.

  • Oversee care of fawns, administrative work, volunteer operations, installation of satellite shelters and other related duties.

Compensation

  • Salary dependent on qualifications.
