Here you can see the stairs from the deck are gone, and the area for the patio is being leveled.  You can see the footing area for the seat wall being prepared along the fence.  The existing stone wall to the left has been shortened.

Here you can see more gravel... Also how the deck has been cut off at an angle (just barely) so the stairs will descend toward the (future) patio.

Here's Wil playing with the excavator while nobody's looking.  (Running one of these things is harder than it looks.)
