Hotspots Configuration

  1. Check your 802.11 card

Make sure you have your 802.11 wireless card securely plugged in, with the drivers and software installed properly

  2. Configure your Network Card

Run the wireless network card's configuration utility. You should only need to enter the SSID. All Sonic.net Hotspots access points use the SSID "Sonic.net" for ease of use.

  3. Configure your Network

Configure your wireless network card's TCP/IP protocol to connect via DHCP (IP address automatically obtained). You may need to reboot for these settings to take effect.

  4. Open a VPN Tunnel

Using a VPN client such as the Cisco VPN client (VPN Client Download), create a connection to our VPN Concentrator. These packages are pre-configured to connect.

  5. Log In

Once you've opened your VPN tunnel, you will be prompted for your Sonic.net login name and password.

  6. Surf!

You're all set. Load up your internet applications (web, mail, etc.) and surf away to your heart's content.
