Instructions for Petitions

Home
  1. Obtain Every Voters Middle Name or Initial

Each signature and printed name must be the same as on the voter registration card. The Registrar of Voters state that 80% of all voters register with their middle name or initial. Omission of the middle name or initial may result in the signature being disqualified.

  2. All of the gray boxes must be filled in by the person circulating the petition.

If there are any omissions or errors in the Declaration of the Circulator then the entire page of signatures is invalid. Print the name of the county where the petition is being signed in the space provided on the petition.

  3. Copies of petitions must be copied exactly on both sides. Take a new blank petition to an experienced copier and ask him or her to guarantee that there will be no loss of the margins or fine print on the petition.

  4. You can collect signatures of voters from any California county, but you must use a separate page for each county.
