Leon Russell was quite interested in the Programmable Drum Set when it was first introduced. So he made a trip up to John's house, and John had a little reception for some of the Paia crowd to meet Leon. Some time later, several of us went down to Leon's studio in Dallas to see and hear some of his recording work.

Later, John worked with Leon when refining the SMPL timelock system, as Leon was struggling with the whole SMPTE/MIDI/beatclock sync problems in his own studio (in LA at that time) with his big E-Mu modular.
