...Rather than doing the links first when I get home tonight, which was my original plan, I think I'll go thru the code and try to figure out why the hell the text is coming out so damn big... it's not my browser setting, I checked...
Posted by Zathras at April 8, 2003 05:18 PMHuh? What size does it look like on yours? It's only showing up as a size 12 Times New Roman on mine... :^/
I was a nice blogger and nuked all of the content output control aside from font color when I rewrote my templates. That way individual users can control the specific font & size based on their own sensory needs -- one person's love for Arial 10 could be someone else's worst visual nightmare. :)
Posted by: Moggy at April 8, 2003 05:42 PMYou know, American Feed Magazine would look GREAT as the first link, wouldn't it?

*snicker*
This is Parrish the incurable romantic we are talking about: if the link to my blog isn't at the top, I'd be very surprised. Especially considering he got upset when I didn't have *his* first on my blog -- so for him to do otherwise would give me the chance to justifiably call him a hypocrite. *g*
Hmm, that's odd -- the thing looks like a complete mess on Win ME and IE 5.0 at the office. I guess that should have occurred to me as the first probable cause.
Yes, of course your blog is going to be the first link, for exactly the reason you say, Denise. *chuckle* Just to clarify, though, I wasn't upset with you for not listing my blog first -- if you'll reread that discussion, you'll see that my motivation was different.

OK - WHERE did I put that picture of Parrish in my documentary again?
Posted by: TripleS at April 8, 2003 07:45 PMEverything is all big and running off the edge of my screen here in IE. I'll test it out in Opera and report back.
Posted by: Sparrow at April 8, 2003 08:29 PMReporting in from Opera. The text is still large-sized but Opera handles the page much better in that the text is no longer running off the right-hand side of the screen. Interesting.
I tried out my author mode/user mode toggle button (a.k.a. the "ohgods! yellow web pages hurt my face! button") and the text went down to normal size but some other interesting things happened that don't happen on other pages, specifically, the left hand column disappeared and reappeared at the bottom of the page, centered, below all the entries. Most intriguing! Opera does some amusing things sometimes.
Anyway, the page *is* legible and wraps properly in at least one of my browsers and if you do something godawful that I can't stand to look at, I can always toggle into user mode and not have to look at it. :-)
(Welcome to your new blog)
Posted by: Sparrow at April 8, 2003 08:38 PMJust to clock in with my own results here...
Mozilla 1.2: fonts are coming across as Times New Roman 12, everything is wrapping just fine.
IE 6.02: fonts look like TNR 13 (!?) and nothing is wrapping at all.
I'm not exactly surprised by this -- chances are that the MovableType creators are Mozilla/Opera fans. Most "genuine geeks" prefer to avoid IE...
Posted by: Moggy at April 8, 2003 09:48 PMI mainly use Opera but I use IE when I want to use the proxy or when I want to view a page that doesn't render properly in Opera. While I greatly prefer Opera, there are still many things it just can't do.
