OK, here are my Star Trek species results...

From the Star Trek species quiz that Denise gave on her blog. No big surprises here. I've always thought of myself as kind of being half Betazoid, half Vulcan, so it's not surprising that they came in at number two and three respectively. Trill, though... I'll have to think that one over a bit more.

Please note that I've taken the liberty of using the correct spelling of "Ferengii", as opposed to the one used on that site. *sniffs haughtily*

#1 Trill
#2 Betazoid
#3 Vulcan
#4 Human
#5 Bajoran
#6 Andorian
#7 Ferengii
#8 Cardassian
#9 Romulan
#10 Klingon

Who knows what's next from THE VAULT! ;)

Hmmm... judging from everything on your previous blog and your entries here, it's no surprise that #1 on your list is a form of semi-symbiotic parasite. What a catch!

ROFL! I remember you shooting that video of me in those sunglasses that day... but I had forgotten how much they made me look like the Unabomer!

Thanks for a fun start to the day. :-)

I told you those shades made you look scary! Hope you retired 'em . . .

WTF was it with Markus's hair?!? White bro with full blown afro.

Posted by: TripleS at April 9, 2003 03:58 PM

Heh, until I saw that one of the pics of that guy was labelled Markus, I assumed the unlabeled one ("hairup" or whatever the name was) was you, Shaw.

It's really odd that none of the people in those pics even vaguely resemble the kind of folk I'm used to seeing where I live. It's not ethnicity -- there's plenty of caucasians here. Then again, I didn't fit into DC when I was there, either... Maybe everyone in CA is just visibly weird, and I'm so used to it that the lack is confusing. *snicker*

Well, the thing is the school me and Parrish went to was pretty odd - I think in some ways we both dressed oddly just to fit in (no! Markus wasn't me! I did see me on that tape - it was not a good sight . . . )

Anyhow - from what yer sayin', just sounds like M.C. was odder than L.A. - hard to believe

"WTF was it with Markus's hair?!? White bro with full blown afro."

Looks Jewish to me. I've dated a couple of Jewish guys and they both had extremely curly/nappy black hair like that.

"It's really odd that none of the people in those pics even vaguely resemble the kind of folk I'm used to seeing where I live."

I've never been to the part of California you live in, but I've been to L.A. a couple of times and San Francisco, Berkeley and Oakland once. I'm surprised you say that *none* of them look like folks where you live because Farber looks like a whole lot of people I saw in California. So does Adrienne. Farber looks "generic hippie" to me - he looks exactly like scores of other guys I've seen in the hippie social circles (though that's partly my mild prosopagnosia peeking through, I'd guess) and adrienne looks like the "generic intellectual chick," possibly the "generic intellectual lesbian" that I've seen so many places but especially in California and New York.

Posted by: Sparrow at April 10, 2003 08:36 PM

Adrienne was sort of an intellectual (but only partly -- the big intellectualism came later). She was definitely a hippie, probably the biggest hippie I've ever met or even heard of. And I mean that in a good way -- she's a really neat woman. (A lesbian, however, she most definitely was not.)

That's why I said "maybe" on the lesbian part. There are an awful lot of straight girls who look not-straight and the biggest categories of cross-over are intellectual, hippie and athletic. (I haven't seen very many preppy, yuppie, power-suited, etc. women in dyke bars. Mostly I see wire-rim glasses or very short hair (the "dyke spike") or softball jerseys or birkenstocks (and hairy armpits) or bolo ties.)

Some straight girls have "the look" down so hard that it's double-take time when their husband walks up and gives them a kiss. There's even a song about the phenomenon by the lesbian folk singer Jamie Anderson called "Why Do All These Straight Girls Look so Butch to Me?"

It seems that "gaydar" doesn't always translate very well to "dykedar." (Or maybe it's just me and my social disabilities...but I don't have the same failure percentage in spotting gay men so I think if it is just me it's just me and women.)

(Or maybe it's a "wishful thinking" phenomenon that makes me look at cute chicks and think they must be gay? LOL)
