The ongoing battle for a diagnosis

Well, I got a voice mail from one woman on Tuesday, and another one yesterday. Turns out the insurance company may cover this diagnosis after all. I wish people would quit jerking me around. Man, I hadn't had to deal with a bureaucracy in so long, I had forgotten how much I hate it.

As an additional fun new wrinkle, it turns out that I can't refer myself for this diagnosis; I have to have a referral from my GP. In true Aspie form, of course, I haven't seen a doctor since I relocated to the DC area, which in turn means I'm going to have to call the rent-a-doc that my HMO gives me and probably go in for a checkup or something (which, I suppose, is not a bad thing -- I've been meaning to do it for a while, but I'd rather have known about it sooner).

Stay tuned, boys and girls. :^)

Gotta luv da red tape.

My ma saw a doc. a few months ago, they referred her to the emergency room 'cuz she was sick.

The emergency room doc. perscribed to her the wrong med. that could've killed her - thankfully her usual doctor caught the mistake in time.

Gotta remember: they're all there to make you better

(the last line in the last post was, of course, sarcasm)

Or, there's the air fare to fly out here and about $100 to visit my doctor who wrote her thesis on Asperger's in the 1980s and has worked with countless Asperger's patients since then. If your insurance won't cover going to the doctor out there, you can get diagnosed out here for less than half the cost.

That and (at least from what I've been told) West coast docs are pretty good. Of course, I've only dealt with one West Coast doc. in my life (when I was sick in Seattle and had to see a doc.) Maybe Sparrow is right - that and the east coast red tape isn't helping you any...

How's the piece for Am. Feed coming?

Hmm.. The Great Machine of Zathras suddenly locks up IE when I try to view comments. That's a new development - it worked just fine before today. It takes a helluva lot to lock up IE - usually it's Opera that gets locked up when I go to a site but Opera is handling the comment link just fine (as evidenced by my posting here.)

How bizarre to lock up IE -- I haven't found a single other site capable of doing that! I wonder what changed....

What changed?

Um,

well...

I started posting again?
