Same goes for smoke -- over time, anything that's kept in a home where people smoke regularly will suffer smoke damage, especially books and electronics. Ask a used bookstore owner about it sometime -- they can explain it to you and show you the difference between a used book from a smoker's home and from a non-smoker's home.
