Day 10b - Portofino - 14 Settembre 2003
2003-09-14b liguria-0048ADJx260ds.jpg (27716 bytes) Our home base in Liguria was
a hotel in Santa Margherita
which welcomed us
with a champagne toast.
I found the reflections
in the marble interesting.

2003-09-14b liguria-0065ccADJx260ds.jpg (16350 bytes) Here's another view.
And here's a plant behind a
panel of obscuring glass.

2003-09-14b liguria-0042ADJx260ds.jpg (16706 bytes) We had free time that
afternoon so my choice
was to take a short bus
trip to Portofino.

And yes, this is Portofino.

The harbor is filled
with colorful boats.

Why is "beige" such a
popular color in the U.S.?

A short but steep hike up
the hill at the seaward side
of town will find you at
this church with...

...a splendid view
in all directions.

There are also some interesting
architectural effects.

The stucco on the corner
of this house is real,
but the "stone" above
it is just painted on.

There were also other interesting
encounters. I just know that there
is a story behind this rose cast
aside this trash can on the street.

2003-09-14b liguria-0072ADJx260ds.jpg (12578 bytes) Later in the evening
we dined here in
Santa Margherita.
The food was wonderful as always... 2003-09-14b liguria-0076ADJx260ds.jpg (35463 bytes)

...but there was the added
flavor of a sales pitch
by a local artist.
