Alcatel 1000 configuration

Alcatel 1000 ADSL bridges were shipped pre-configured to use trunk VP/VC 0/35. For newer circuits (particularly those provisioned on remote terminals), it may be necessary to reconfigure this.

  1. Configure your computer to use 10.0.0.140 for its IP address, 10.0.0.138 for its gateway, and 255.255.255.0 as its subnet mask.
  2. Open http://10.0.0.138/ in the browser of your choice.
  3. You will be presented with the Alcatel ADSL configuration interface. Select "Bridge" from the navigation menu.
  4. You will be presented with a number of "port states" that are available to configure. You can delete existing ports or add a new one. Add a port with the following characteristics:
    1. Set "Encap" to "LLCSNAP"
    2. Set FCS to "NO"
    3. Set VPI to 0
    4. Set VCI to 35

  5. If the Alcatel does not allow you to add a new port, delete one of the existing, disabled ports first, then try again.
  6. After adding a new port, delete your old entry and set the new entry's "stat" to "forwarding."

Note: Alcatel 1000 bridges with "AA" in their serial number cannot be reconfigured.
