Zoom 5515 & 5615 Configuration

Zoom ADSL bridges are capable of autodetecting the trunk VP/VC of the circuit to which they are connected. This can cause problems with some Central Office and Remote Terminal equipment, so in cases of sync-no-surf, it is advisable to specify the trunk VP/VC.

  1. Configure your computer to use an IP of 10.0.0.5, a gateway of 10.0.0.2, and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
  2. Open http://10.0.0.2/ with the web browser of your choice.
  3. You will be challenged to provide a login name and password. By default, the login name is "admin" and the password is "zoomadsl" (this may not be the case if this device has been previously reconfigured).
  4. You will be directed to the Zoom Basic Setup page, at which point the ADSL bridge may attempt to autodetect its trunk VP/VC. If this fails, you will be directed to an "Autodetect" page.
  5. Mark the radio button labeled "Disable," then click the button labeled "Save Changes."
  6. The Zoom will attempt to autodetect again. Click the button labeled "Stop" to skip the process, or wait.
  7. You will be presented with a "Basic Setup" interface. Select "I want to configure my modem manually," then set your VPI to 0 and your VCI to 35.
  8. Click the button labeled "Save Changes" and wait for the screen to refresh.
  9. Click the button labeled "Write Settings to Flash" to finish. The Zoom may take a moment to reset itself, after which you should be able to use it normally.
