Disabling PPPoE on Zyxel 600P Prestige

Caveats

  • Sonic.net, Inc. does not provide Zyxel ADSL modems, and there is no warranty either explicit nor implied on the following instructions.
  • These instructions are for a Zyxel 600P Prestige, not for a Zyxel 600 Prestige.

Step-by-step

  1. Configure your computer to use an IP address of 192.168.1.5, a gateway of 192.168.1.1, and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. This should be assigned by DHCP. Note: if the Zyxel is issuing an IP address starting with 172, it is likely a 600, not a 600P.
  2. Browse to http://192.168.1.1
  3. The password of 1234 should already be entered there, if it's not, type it in. It will try to change the password on the next screen, you can just click "ignore."
  4. Click the "Setup Wizard" link.
  5. Change the drop-down menu from "routed" to "bridged" and click continue.
  6. Renew your IP to obtain your public IP address via DHCP
