DHCP with Broadmax (2)

These instructions are intended to help you switch your Broadmax HSA300A-304 DSL Modem from DHCP routing mode to bridging. This is the extent to which Sonic.Net tech support will help you configure your modem. Any other changes are made at your own risk, and will not be supported by Sonic.Net.

  1. First you must configure your Network Adapter to use the gateway of 192.168.0.1 and the ip address of 192.168.0.2 . Please see the DSL configuration screenshots for your operating system if you need help with this.

Once the Network Adapter is configured you will be able to reach the Broadmax's web interface by using your web browser to browse to http://192.168.0.1 . If you are configured properly you will get a box asking for the username and password for the broadmax. Enter the login name (default "broadmax") and password (default "broadmax"). The first page you will see is the "Home" page for the broadmax modem.

Note: If you do not see a "System Mode" option at the top center of the home page, as shown in the picture below, you will want to follow the older Broadmax instructions. These instructions are only for the Broadmax firmware that by default is set to DHCP routing. If you have any questions please contact support.

Select the "Quick Configuration" Menu at the top of the "Home" page.

  2. On the "Quick Configuration" page change "Bridge" from disabled to enabled using the pull down menu. Change the radial button for "Use DHCP" from enabled to disable, and use the pull down menu to change "Default Route" from enabled to disabled. Click the "Submit" at the bottom of the page. After a successfully submitting the changes Select the "LAN" tab from the top and choose the "DHCP Mode" menu.

Note: If you get an error when trying to submit the changes, go back over the entire "Quick Configuration" menu and make sure your settings mirror those in the picture, and then click the "Submit" button again. Or go to the "Admin" tab select the "Commit & Reboot" menu. Use the "Reboot" pull down menu and select "Reboot from Default Configuration". After the device reboots you will want to start again from the beginning.

  5. Use the radial buttons to change the "Bridging:" option from disabled to enabled. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page. Once your changes have been submitted select the "Bridging" menu from the "Bridging" tab.

  6. Use the pull down menu to add a new interface to your Bridge Configuration. Select "eth-0" from the pull down menu. Click the "Add" button to add the new interface. You will see a new interface named eth-o added to the list. Once this step is completed select the "Admin" tab from the top of the page, and then select the "Commit & Reboot" menu.

  7. The last step is to commit all of your changes to memory. Failing to do this step would result in your Broadmax to revert to its previous configuration if it were to loose power or be rebooted. To save all of the changes you have made click on the "Commit" button at the bottom of the page. The router can now be rebooted and/or power cycled and it will keep all of the changes to the settings.

If at any time you wish to convert this device back to a DHCP router. Go to the "Admin" tab and select the "Commit & Reboot" menu. Use the "Reboot:" pull down menu and select "Reboot from Default Configuration". This will cause the Broadmax to revert to the settings it originally had when the device was shipped.
