DHCP with Broadmax

  1. These instructions are intended to help you switch your Broadmax HSA300A-304 DSL Modem from bridging to DHCP routing mode. This is the extent to which Sonic.Net tech support will help you configure your modem. Any other changes are made at your own risk, and will not be supported by Sonic.Net.

First you must configure your Network Adapter to use the gateway of 192.168.0.1 and the ip address of 192.168.0.2. Please see the DSL configuration screenshots for your operating system if you need help with this.

Once the Network Adapter is configured you will be able to reach the Broadmax's web interface by using your web browser to browse to http://192.168.0.1 . If you are configured properly you will get a box asking for the username and password for your Broadmax. Enter the login name (default "broadmax") and password (default "broadmax"). The first page you will see is the "Home" page for the Broadmax modem.

Note: If you see a "System Mode" menu option at the top center of the home page, you will want to follow the alternate Broadmax instructions. Your home menu should look like the picture below. These instructions are only for the Broadmax firmware that by default is set to bridging. If you have any questions please contact support.

Select the "Quick Configuration" Menu at the top of the "Home" page.

  2. If you are enabling DHCP, change "Bridge" from enabled to disabled, and click the submit button. Later we will be enabling the "Default route" option. Do not do this here as for some reason the router gives an error. Click the "Submit" button and then select the LAN tab from the top. Select the " DHCP Mode" menu.

Note: If you get and error message after clicking the "Submit" button, you will want to go the the "Admin" tab and select the "Commit & Reboot"menu. Once there use the "Reboot:" pull down menu and select the "Reboot from Default Configuration" option. Click the "Reboot" button. After the modem reboots, start the process once again from the begining

  5. Set the "Start IP Address" to 192.168.0.2. Set the "End IP Address" to 192.168.0.254. The range can be smaller if you would like. The "Netmask" should be set to 255.255.255.0. The "Gateway" should be set to 192.168.0.1 in this configuration. Click the "Submit" button. Click the "Close" button on the page to return to the "DHCP" server window

  10. Click the "Commit" button to save all of your changes you have made. The modem is now ready for service. It is set up to get its ip address via dhcp, and the modem will now act as a dhcp server for the LAN.

Note: If at any time you wish to move the modem back to bridging mode go to the "Admin" tab and select the "Commit & Reboot" menu. Use the "Reboot:" pull down menu and select the "Reboot From Default Configuration" option and then click the "Reboot" button. This can be especially helpfull if you are having problems, or have made changes that you can no longer account for - or are not covered by this help file.Broadmax Admin Tab - Commit & Reboot Menu
