Mail Setup in Mac OS X 10.3

This tutorial will show you how to set up the built-in mail program, "Mail," which comes with Mac OS X 10.3.

  1. Upon opening Mail for the first time, you will be prompted for mail setup information.

    1. Enter your full name in the "Full Name" field.
    2. Enter your Sonic.net email address in the "Email Address" field.
    3. Enter "pop.sonic.net" in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.
    4. Select "POP" in the "Account Type" pull-down menu.
    5. Enter your Sonic.net login name in the "User Name" field.
    6. Enter your Sonic.net password in the "Password" field.
    7. Enter "mail.sonic.net" in the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" field.

      For more detailed information about each of these fields, click on the "?" button in the lower-left corner of this window.

  2. Mail will now attempt to test its settings. This may fail, resulting in an error message. Click the button labeled "Continue."

    Initial Connection Failed.
  3. You will be prompted to import mailboxes from another email client. If this is the first time you have configured any email client for your computer, click "No."

You have now configured your Macintosh's mail client to send and receive mail through Sonic.net. Please refer to our Mail Settings in Mac OS X 10.3 document for more information about configuring Mail.
