Mac OS X Snow Leopard Broadband settings
This tutorial will show you how to set up a Sonic.net Broadband connection in OS X Snow Leopard (10.6). Setup guides for older versions of Mac OS are available here.
These screenshots should work with Sonic.net DSL, Broadlink Wireless DSL, and Wireless Broadband Access, and demonstrate setting up OS X to use a DHCP connection. If you are using a Static-IP address connection, some of the settings may differ.
Note: If you previously had your Macintosh configured to automatically connect via dialup, you will want to ensure that your system is no longer set to "connect automatically when needed" (Dialup Screenshots).
- Click on the Apple menu and choose "System Preferences."

- Click on the "Network" preference pane.
Now click "Built-in Ethernet" from the left hand menu.
- "Configure" should be set to "Using DHCP"
- "IP address," "Subnet Mask," and "Router" will all be assigned dynamically using DHCP
- "DNS Servers" should be assigned using DHCP, but can also be set manually to "208.201.224.11, 208.201.224.33"
- "Search Domains" should be assigned using DHCP but can be set manually to "sonic.net"
- Click on the DNS tab. "DNS Servers" should be assigned using DHCP, but can also be set manually by clicking the "+" and adding "208.201.224.11" and "208.201.224.33".

-
Click on the "Proxies" tab next. Sonic.net does not require any specific proxy
settings.

- Click on the "Ethernet" settings next. Keep this set to "Automatically" unless you want to configure the advanced ethernet settings. For more
information on these settings, press the "?" button in the lower-right-hand-corner of the "Network" window.

That's it, you're done! Just press "OK" then "Apply Now" to save the changes you have made. For more information about Mac OS X please see the help documentation found within the help menu at the top of the screen. Back to the Macintosh setup guides.
