StartTLS in Eudora 6

In order to take advantage of StartTLS encryption for incoming and outgoing mail, it is necessary to instruct Eudora to accept the Sonic.net SSL certificate.

  1. First, attempt to check your Sonic.net mail. If you receive an error regarding an SSL Certificate, proceed. If no error appears, this procedure is not required.

  2. Access your settings by opening Eudora, select the "tools" menu, and click on "options." Select the "Checking Mail" category.

  3. Under "Secure Sockets when Receiving" select "If Available, STARTTLS," then click the button labeled "Last SSL Info."

  4. Click the button labeled "Certificate Information Manager."

  5. Click the button labeled "Add To Trusted." This will cause Eudora to trust the last SSL certificate it was issued. Click the button labeled "Done," then the button labeled "OK," then the button labeled "OK." Close Eudora and reopen it, and you're ready to go!
