nagasiva yronwode.com@nagasiva re the idea of bodily resurrection
                               initiated by some trumpeting angel
>>that's Christian. what about pre-Christian, as Joseph suggested?

karipidu@aol.com (Karipidu):
>The Prophet says: "I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen"
>(Amos 9,11). The body, "the beloved tent of the soul", has fallen;
>It is knelt and bent down "in the dust of the earth" (Dan. 12,2). It
>is what dies that falls; it is the body that dies, for the soul is
>immortal.

Jewish, no angels, no trumpets.

>The prophet Ezekiel in the 37th chapter of his book invites, in the
>name of the Lord, "the very dry bones" to be brought together,
>to receive flesh, to be clothed with body, to acquire again
>their liveliness and to live and to be raised up upon their feet,
>having received the spirit. This vivid description denotes the
>resurrection of the bodies which is expected to take place on
>the great day of the general resurrection. The prophet Isaiah says
>triumphantly: "Thy dead shall live, their bodies shall rise" (Is. 26,19).
>The prophet Daniel affirms that "many of those who sleep in the
>dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some
>to shame and everlasting contempt" (DAn. 12, 2-3).

Jewish, no angels, no trumpets.

>Justin, the philosopher and martyr (second century) suggests
>that those who deny the resurrection of the dead should not be
>considered Christians, just as the Sadducees who deny the
>resurrection are not called Jews. Justin, refers to the resurrection
>of the dead and teaches that what will be resurrected is "the
>fallen flesh", the dead flesh, the body. Proof of this is that the
>Lord "ascended into heaven" (Mk. 16,19) "as He was in the
>flesh". After all, he adds, if the body is not to be resurrected
>then why do we take care of it with a prudent and restrained
>diet and, according to the commandment of God, protect it
>from the pollution of sin? (Justin, On the resurrection VIII, IX,
>X BEPES 4, 229-232).

Christian, no angels, no trumpets. care to try again?

you've done a very good job of illustrating the point that
BODILY RESURRECTION precedes Christianity, but have presented
nothing about bodily resurrection announced or initiated by
some trumpeting angel which precedes Christian religious.

that would appear to be Paulian/Revelations by your previous
wonderful contributions. thanks!
