> ...I have seen books that instruct on how to use tarot cards in spells/rituals.

not many of these, from what I can see. they are a specialty.

> My question is this: Has anybody here actually used Tarot cards in a spell?

as you have already discovered, this is not uncommon. many responded to your
original post with positive affirmations as to the nature of the spells
performed, inclusive of making divinatory readings INTO spells by somehow
readjusting the obtained result (Mystress Pearlz).

the word 'spell' typically will require that the card in question will not
just be the character-cover for a condition you want and which you have
sought in reflection, but instead will be connected to some result or some
person to which the spell pertains. i.e. some individual in your life
appears similar to a particular card or has an idea-fixation on it such
that the card may adequately represent them.

I've identified with cards and meditated upon them at various times in my
life, but wouldn't consider those spells per se, though their result may
have been mystical. I have used tarot cards in collages and altars to
similar effect, but again I wouldn't have called these 'spells' at the
time. I have sometimes placed cards over my doorway and they did in that
case function as a kind of guardian glyph for activities ongoing therein.

right now I have the Secret Dakini Oracle card 'Guardian' over the
inside of my library/temple/workroom. it is held in place by an open-
side-down horseshoe which also rests there (the luck runs onto us as we
enter and exit!!! ;>).

sometimes the commonly-feared cards are utilized in spell-like ways in
films, like in James Bond films where the 'Death' card always has some
kind of plot-revealing function. that card was apparently used as a
kind of signature by the snipers recently in the news. 'course the fluffy
white lighters will always inform us that "now, now, Death just means
change". natch!

what little I've done magically with tarot cards I've enjoyed greatly,
even moreso a reflection on them in my environment and during divination.
studying their structure and content gave me incentive to create an
alternative to what the Goldawnians created in secretive ways. an artwork
of that sort is a magical act in a sense, and I've found great benefit
from such reflection in the last 24 hours!

> And what was the result; good or bad? TIA

in general, good results, mostly reflective.
