The ATM That Saved Me...

Return to Ikebukuro Ward - Return to Oniko Goes To Japan Home Page

Well I know the ATM in the lobby of this building... this is the only ATM machine in the whole of Tokyo that would accept my two American ATM cards while I was in Japan in 1998. This machine was a vacation saver, and the primary reason I spent so much time in Ikebukuro! Next time, I'm going to try to set up a travel account that will give me better access to my money...

UPDATE, 2001:
Sadly, my old friend the ATM no longer exists; the entire building front has been re-built, and the ATM has been removed. Not that I rely on this ATM anymore -- I've found that any Citibank ATM will honor American ATM cards -- but it's still a little sad to see such a familiar -- and life-saving -- device finally vanish. Ah, well.
