I don't pretend to know
but maybe
just maybe
I can help.
Perhaps in a small way,
but that's something.
I can give messages of hope:
shafts of light for the dark times,
reminders of all that's good.
And those can be useful.
Don't just fight the evil;
remember the good.
It is out there,
even if it's hidden in the darkness sometimes.
Find some happy thoughts, some good moments,
and keep them close,
to look at when the light starts to dim.
Maybe I can be one of those happy thoughts.
Because I may not know depression
with any degree of authority,
but I do know this.
I will not let my friends be sad if there's anything I can do to help.
