It's a joy to be an author.
Making imagination tangible.
Giving life to characters woven from dreams,
with their various personalities.
Some waltz into the mind with their resumes
and demand a story,
Others dance through the fringes of thought,
taunting, "I know you want to write about me."
"Think of the fun we'll have."
"Imagine the possibilities..."
Then there's the joy of creating workable civilizations,
new planets, plausible and interesting species...
The list goes on.
But the allure of it all can't be fully explained
to someone who doesn't understand.
It's like explaining color to the blind,
or the intense appeal of music to a deaf person.
So you'll just have to take my word for it.
You think about it for a while; I'm going to go write.
That intriguing new character is calling me...
