----------------------------------------
There are multiple odes to the little things in life,
the simple pleasures.
But sometimes it seems
that people acknowledge them only in the abstract sense;
they know it on the surface
but not in their heart.
Simple things are good,
and as worthy of admiration as the most complicated nouns.
Everyone should take a while
now and again
to look at something small up close.
A leaf, a shoe,
an insect.
Commonplace is not necessarily boring.
Notice something unremarkable;
imagine that it's as important as
something very important.
I'll leave you with a quote from
a friend of mine:
"Save the whales and hug the trees,
but what about the tuna
and the weeds?"
