Wonderful expression of Nature

If you are new to the web, you are constantly comming across piles of capital letters. You KNOW they mean something, but haven't got a clue as to what. Well, here's a list to some of the more common acronyms and their meanings.

ASP:
Application Service Provider (this is like renting software on line)

AAMOF:
As a matter of Fact

B2B:
"Business to business"... generally has to do with e-commerce.

BOD:
Board of Directors

BTW:
By The Way

CEO:
Chief Executive Officer

COO:
Chief Operating Officer

DD:
"Due Diligence" ... a term that means "sufficiently adequate research"

EOM:
End of Message (often people will put this at the end of a post's title if the entire message is in the title line of the post)

FAQ:
Frequently Asked Questions ... a list of basics about a particular topic that everyone always asks when they are new to it...

In My Humble Opinion or In My Honest Opinion. If you are looking at financial bulletin boards, it means honest... nobody there is ever EVER humble!

Off Topic (Use this in your header line if you are posting in a topic-specific board and your post is "Off topic". That way, people that want to read only topic related posts won't be irritated with wasting time.

POS:
Usually: Piece of Du-Du... seen on financial boards typically in relation to a particular stock

RAM:
Random Access Memory, or just "memory"... this is the stuff that your computer needs to "think" with... the more of it, the bigger and more complex thoughts it can think. Processor speed relates to how fast it can think them.

ROFLOL:
Rolling on Floor Laughing out Loud: indicates a greater state of hilarity than mere LOL.

ROFLMAO:
Still another notch up un the hilarity scale: Rolling on Floor Laughing My "Ahem" Off.

Thanks In Advance. Generally used when one poster makes a requesst of another (usually for information) that is expected to be fufilled.

Uniform Resource Locator... it's that wierd bunch of jumble that appears in your web browser when you go to a website... http://www...etc..
