Retired Assistant District Attorney Greg Jacobs, of Sebastopol, received the “Careers of Distinction” award at the annual Sonoma County Bar Association dinner, held recently in Santa Rosa.

Jacobs and long time Petaluma attorney Leroy Lounibos Jr. received recognition for their careers of distinction.

District Attorney Stephen Passalacqua, in presenting the award said, “Greg was a huge asset to our office. I have always respected his dedication and professionalism in doing the difficult work we do to protect our community.”

Over the course of his career, Jacobs tried 110 jury trials ranging from DUI and robbery to sexual assaults and murder cases.

In 2005, the California District Attorney's Association selected Greg as one of the “Outstanding Prosecutors of the Year.”

As Assistant District Attorney, Jacobs successfully prosecuted Richard Allen Davis for the kidnap and murder of Petaluma's Polly Klaas.

Rachel Dollar, President of the Sonoma County Bar Association, presented plaques to both individuals.

Upon receiving the award, Jacobs said “I am very honored to join a group of very distinguished attorneys. What makes it even more meaningful is that the Bar Association selected a career prosecutor for the first time for the award.”
