Toad Hollow Vineyards
1997 Cacophony Zinfandel, Sonoma County
Ca•coph´o•ny: raucous, tempestuous,
discordant. Sounds more like the good Dr. Toad. Reverse the words to
describe the wine: elegant, smooth, harmonious. Toad Hollow still
dances to a different tune, as this rich Sonoma County Zin will
attest. |

Zinfandel ... Zinfandel...who cares where it originally came from?
Italy ... Croatia ... or Tibet!
The important thing is that it made its way to California and we have it!
Zinfandel has found great favor with the American wine-drinking public. It has
survived an onslaught of styles, from pink pop to portentous ports. This truly noble
and resilient grape has now, for the most part, nestled into the arms of respectability,
giving pleasure to its many adherents of longtime standing and to the multitudes that have
only recently been exposed to its many charms. The Toad Hollow Cacophony
Zinfandel was produced and grown in Sonoma County where this vine was first planted and
cultivated in the 1850's (to be more precise than that is only inviting trouble). It
is obviously enjoying a very long run to enthusiastic audiences and we are happy to have
it on our marquee.
This rather piquant wine with subtle hints of raspberries and Sonoma soil will bring
you back to visit it many times.
Encore. Encore.
