Peace Rally at San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza

Huge crowds were expected for the Febuary 16, 2003 Peace Rally at San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza. A unique solution was required to disperse sound over the entire plaza without creating unbearable loudness for the people at the front of the crowd. Our solution was to use two huge construction cranes to "fly" the speaker stacks above the crowd. Using 32 EAW KF750 and 755 speakers and sophisticated digital processing technology we were able to steer the main lobe of the sound wave across the plaza, while controlling the downward firing energy, keeping the levels comfortable for the folks up front.

Whether the crowd was 65,000 or 200,000 it was enormous and boisterous, yet we received reports from the farthest reachers that the marchers had no problem hearing Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, Danny Glover and Alice Walker even though the performers and activists were mere dots on the distant stage. Summer time is fun and full of music and dance here in the Bay Area in the form of Street Fairs and Festivals. JK Sound provides full production sound systems for most of the major Street Fairs and Festivals in San Francisco including, Carnival, S.F. Pride, Bernal Heights Street Fair, Burning Man De-Compression, Festiva Philippina, May Day, Cherry Blossom Festival, Folsom Street Fair, Nike Marathon, and Cinco De Mayo. Some of these fairs have us providing for Multiple music stages and floats. S.F. Pride requires Five Secondary live music stages plus the Main Live Stage and six D.J/Dance stages. Carnival requires eight full live music production stages plus 5 major floats for the parade portion. The S.F. Nike
Marathon requires twenty D.J. stations along it route, and two live music stages.
