The BIG T/A Pickup body is a combination of Model T and Model A Styling. It is Highly Modified 8th scale model and about a foot and a half long. The BIG T/A Pickup was built from the REVELL 8th Scale BIG "T", the Pickup Bed is made from 2 Monogram 8th Scale Golden "T" Pickup Beds. The Wheels, Tires and Brakes are also from the Golden T. The Dashboard, Door panels and Roof Console are from the Monogram 12th Scale Testarosa.
The BIG T/A cowl and bottom half of the body is from the Big "T" and the rest of the body was built from Sheet and Strip plastic. The Door Handles are from a Revell 1965 Corvette. The BIG T/A Pickup Bed was made from 2 Golden T Beds. The 2 Beds were Shortened and Glued together. The Back and the Floor of the Bed were made with sheet plastic. The BIG "T" Tailgate was made thicker with sheet plastic, both on the front and back. Tail Light and License Plate Housings were cut into the sheet plastic, before gluing the Tailgate and sheet plastic together. Eyelets were made from Brass Rod to mount the Tailgate Chains. The BIG "T" Gastank was narrowed and fit to the bottom of the Pickup Bed, between the frame rails. The Tail Lights are Plastic Rhinestones.
The engine started as a Chevy V8 and was modified into a Slant 4 Engine. It is loosely based on a Mickey Thompson Pontiac Engine from his "Attempt 1" Bonneville Car. Half the cylinders were cut off and a new left side engine block was made with Sheet and Strip Plastic. The Supercharger is from a Monogram 12th Scale 1957 Chevy Kit. The manifold is made from Sheet Plastic. The Blower Belt is Black Braided Elastic from a craft store. The Blower Pulleys are made from 24th Scale Mag Wheels. The Pop-Off Valve is made from a 25th Scale Air Cleaner for the base, Straight Pins and Red Plastic Tubing. The dipstick is made from brass rod.
The interior was made with the Bench Seat from the BIG "T" and the Dashboard, Roof Console and Door Panels are from a 12th scale Ferrari. The Floorboard and Center Console were made from sheet plastic and Flocked in Black. The Shifter and Console Plate are from the Revell 1965 Corvette. The Steering Wheel is from a Camaro. The "Foot" gas pedal is resin.
The BIG T/A Pickup was primed and then painted with several coats of Testors New Fiery Orange Lacquer. A few coats of Testors "Wet Look Clear" was then applied. The Interior is Flat Black with Fiery Orange and Silver accents. The Underbody was painted flat black.
