TRIAD
IMC CUSTOM JET RANGER TURBINE CONCEPT CAR
BUILT BY IRA DAHM (9/73)
MORE PHOTOS BELOW!
I built the "TRIAD" for a Car Model
Magazine article in the September 1973 issue. In this article I showed how
to build a 1/25 scale 3 Wheel Turbine Powered Concept Car, from an 1/32
scale IMC Bell Jet Ranger Helicopter kit. The Triad has to be about the
wildest model I built for Car Model Magazine. This is a fun one, I hope
you enjoy it.
The Triad has been in storage for over 30
years, I recently unpacked the Triad to do minor repairs and clean it up,
unfortunatly the windshield halves were missing. I tried for months to get
an IMC Jet Ranger on Ebay with no luck. Fortunately Norman Veber ( of Replicas
& Miniatures Fame) heard I needed these parts and the next thing I knew,
I had a Priority Mail package from Norman with the windshield parts I needed.
So, thanks to Norman I got the Triad back together. It still looks pretty
good considering its age! These are new photos of the original model restored.
The drawing is the original that I drew for the article.
The huge tires are the original Richard Carroll
products sold through Car Model Magazine in the 1970's. Most of the other
parts for this car are from the "parts box" or made from sheet
plastic. The rear suspension was made from plastic sheet and tubing in a
''Swing Arm" configuration, like most motorcycles. The body was painted
Testors Ruby Red Metalflake and the interior is flat white.
