The main Turkish beverage conglomorate, which started brewing Efes Pilsener in it's facilities in 1969. It currently has some 5 breweries in Turkey, 2 in Russia, 1 in Ukraine and 1 in Romania. It employs some 6,000+ and is one of the top brewers in the world.
They've made a major inroad throughout the Middle East and Central Asia ("Karaganda" was the major Kazakh model, acquired by the Andalou Group, Efes parent company). For example, it's now available in Iran, which is pretty shocking, when you think about it.
Needless to say, it is a common "fixture" in Turkish restaurants and presumably Turkish based soccer clubs throughout Germany.

| Tasting Notes |
biertest.de rates it average, "too watery". Given it's
Mediterranean origins, it's likely too light for German
tastes. Oxford liked the Stary Melnik Dark (8/10).
