Founded in 1901, in the early years BFV was known as the "Club of Academics", because many of it's leaders and members were teachers and professors. Tura on the other hand, was known as a worker's club. It was officially founded in 1925 thru a merger of FC Normannia and FC Borussia.
As Bonner FV, the club had some decent results in the Gauliga Mittelrhein in the pre-WWII period. Matthias Heidemann was the last player capped for Germany from the club during this period. After the war, Bonn remained second class, and finally merged to become Bonner SC.
The merger was needed in an attempt to reach professional level, but since Bonn is a politician rather than a soccer town, it hasn't been too successful.
At the end of 2010, Bonn went into administration, and were unable to make arrangements to continue playing in any division. As a result, the club decided that the men's team would sit out the season. The U19 and other youth teams would continue playing, and the hope was that they would be able to consolidate the debts and start again next season.
