The highpoint of 1997 was the visit of Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Cup. Unfortunately, there was no miracle, as the Bundesligists were merciless and won 8-0. But some 6,500 fans showed up in Rostock's Ostseestadion, so it was financially nice... After a brief appearance in the Oberliga in 1999, SVW dropped down into regional amateur obscurity, where they remain.
