Oberliga Niederrhein, GAME 3: (August 18, 2002)
Crap 2nd half ruins Goumai's stellar performance
WSV threw away the 3 points by going to sleep on the job. After being
shocked by Wegberg's early lead (after Janssen screwed up and lost the
ball), WSV reacted brilliantly. Jacques Goumai was the outstanding figure,
as he nailed a quick hattrick. First he rammed home a pass from Tavarez,
then headed in a cross from Euler to give the Lions the lead. Then he
finished his hattrick with a splendid individual effort - all within 10
minutes. However, WSV then went to sleep, letting Wegber crawl back into
the match. Goumai himslef was slightly injured, and was taken out at
halftime. Little did the small Zoo crowd realize that disastrous things
were in store.
In the 2nd half, WSV totally sucked. In particular, the forwards Kohout
and Kipre were less than worthless. In fact, their silly fouls directly
contributed to Wegberg getting back in the game, and Kipre crowned his
crap performance by missing a sitter at the end of the game that could
have saved his bacon.
For WSV, the shining star was obviously the veteran Goumai. Sascha
Walbrö'hl had a decent match, and Euler looked good at times.
Actually, coach Straka deserves some of the "creidt" for tis crap result,
as his subbing of Euler and Hyza weakened the midfield and allowed WSV to
get overrun.
