Wuppertaler SV - SpFr Hamborn 07 4:1 (3:0)

Oberliga Niederrhein, Round 13: (November 10, 2001)

WSV with easy win against lame guests WSV completely dominated the match against the tail-enders from Hamborn. Unlike the earlier struggle a couple of months ago in the Cup match, WSV was never threatened, and almost treated the game with nonchalant training game atmosphere.

Wuppertal attacked furiously, but as usual, wasted all sorts of chances. Walbroehl and Steup had open goals to start the scoring withinn the first 5 minutes, but blew them. Hamborn meanwhile were running around haplessly like chickens with their heads chopped off.

Jean-Louis Tavarez scored his first for the Red/Blues in the 24. minute, as he dribbled through on the left side and blasted into the far corner. WSV continued to pressure, wasting several more chances to turn this game into a rout. Finally after about 40 minutes, Alex kohout was able to get the second - with a little help from Hamborn. His point blank shot rebounded off the post onto Hamborn's defender Thorsten Kott, and bounced off him into the net.

The 2nd half saw more WSV pressure. After a nice cross by Markus Bayertz, probably WSV's best player today, Noel Kipre headed home WSV's fourth. It seemed that a real rout was underway, but Wuppertal pretty much went back to sleep. Hamborn was able to pull a goal back, as Efrain Landero easily beat Yasar Kurt and blasted past Heese.

WSV was pretty much interested in just bringing the game home at this point. Markus Bayertz almost scored the goal of the match, as his direct free kick from 25 meters rocketed off the cross bar about 15 minutes from time.

Overall, an easy win in front of a disinterested crowd. Interim manager Jonny Hey didn't really alter tactics or lineups from ex-boss Straka's strategies, so it remains to be seen what the changes will be. Kemal Celle, recovered from earlier injury, made his debut for WSV late in the game, but had no impact, as the game was already decided. However, he came in for Alex Kohout, who was forced out with an undetermined injury.
