Oberliga Niederrhein, Round 24:
Another crap result for WSV. This time they throw away a 2 goal halftime
lead and blow it against Osterfeld.
Things started out decently enough, with WSV controlling things, although
the strategy seemed unclear. Most of the WSV midfielders seemed more
interested in shadowing their opponents rather than taking it to them.
Osterfeld got back into the game with a double by ex-pro Holger
Gaissmayer. At one time, ex-WSV manager Stefan Engels wanted to bring
Gaissmayer into the WSV squad, but it was vetoed because he was "too old".
So grandpa evidentally took it personal and levied the score. And of
course, Engels got booted out of WSV. To be fair,
Tsapakidis generally had the oldtimer under decent control, but you can't
argue with two scores.
Richard Mademann made things worse with a case of temporary insanity.
After getting called for a foul resulting in a penalty, he went ballistic
and booted the ball into the stands. Naturally, he got his ass tossed and
a shorthanded WSV now had to bring home the point. They did, but it was
hardly the desired result.
So where does this leave our heroes? Barely holdingon to 1st place,
although Velbert has a game in hand. Since Borussia Wuppertal easily won
their match (3-0 against Aachen's amateurs), the race has tightened up
again. After two crap results in a row, WSV must show it's worth.
Hopefully, they haven't already...
