Regionalliga Nord, Round 1:
An excellent start for WSV! WSV completely outplayed hosts Uerdingen and
fully deserve the victory. The cursed Oberliga banishment would quickly be
forgotten as Regionalliga fussball returned.
KFC had a slight edge in the 1st half, as WSV took a cautious approach in
their return to the Regionalliga. However in the 2nd half, WSV took
complete control of the match, and left the Uerdingens running around like
chickens with their heads cut off.
The first goal was quite pretty. Sascha Walbrohl broke through down the
right flank, and lifted a high cross to the far end. There Ales Kohout
leapt high at the far post and headed in nicely. 1-0 for WSV! The
approximately 1,000 strong contingent of WSV fans whooped it up, and only
a couple of minutes later, Markus Bayertz blasted an impressive 25 meter
shot into the net. With the game now tightly under control, WSV toyed with
the Krefelders, until Olli Ebersbach put away another nail in the coffin.
