Regionalliga Nord, Round 19:
December 7, 2003

Eintracht Braunschweig - Wuppertaler SV 0:1 (0:0)

SENSATIONAL FIRST HALF FINISHED IN STYLE

WSV ended an amazing first half of the return to the Regionalliga with a hard fought 1-0 away victory at preseason favorite Braunschweig. This allows WSV to maintain 1st place in the standings, raising hopes for a potential promotion to the 2.Liga. Certainly the best half season performance for WSV in years.

Braunschweig came out strong at the start, and pushed WSV into the defensive. They had a huge chance in the 17th minute, but Backer, completely unmarked, blasted over the goal. However, gradually, WSV began to take control of the match, and began to pressure the Eintracht defense. The home team had to consider itself happy not to go into the locker room with a deficit.

The 2nd half started well for WSV, as Braunschweig's Lieberknecht got his ass tossed. WSV controlled the game, but dallied around until Alex Kohout got free with about 20 minutes left to bang home the winner.
