A horrible result for WSV! The game was in the bag, and they blew it. This does not bode well for the rest of the season.
Here, a liberal translation of the kicker of 8/5/96:

Unlucky home start at the Zoo! For 70 minutes, WSV controlled the frightened and defensively oriented newcomer. Then the recently brought in Papic turned the tide.
First, Heinen was able to neutralize a terrible defensive lapse by Menzel. But only 2 minutes later, the WSV goalie made a patzer himself. After a poor defense, Heinen could only stop Teveren's "goal man" with a foul at the penalty border. Papic converted the penalty and a few moments later, in the manner of a classic attacker, scored the surprising tying goal.
Desipte being weak on the wings, and playing without fire, WSV was totally dominating the game. Yet they also needed a goalie blooper to take the lead. The otherwise outstanding Wacht misstepped, and Weber scored on a free kick from 12 meters.
After Walbröhl's goal for 2:0, the game appeared to be over. But Wuppertal forgot to close the bag...
