An excellent result for WSV! Despite being outplayed for the most part, they took advantage of their opportunities like cold-blooded killers and dispatched Homburg efficiently. Well, actually, they didn't really play that well, but at least they brought home the bacon against a pretty solid team...

Goulet knew no mercy

FC Homburg robbed themselves of the fruits of victory. From the start, the hosts were dominant, but they just couldn't score. (Hmm - how many times have we heard THAT one before? - ed.) And the first goal was in fact scored by Goulet in the 19th minute - for the guests.

Afterwards, Homburg played like they were truly possesed. But they were unable to convert several excellent chances before halftime. Hummel banged one off the crossbar. Both Stanic and Hummel missed a wide open goal. Muschinka long blast was just cleared away, and Kacharaber, who wandered through at will through the loose WSv defense, was often only stopped by fouls.

A quarter hour before the end, coach Sude through caution in the wind and put everything in attack. He took out libero Becker and replaced him with Farh, another attacker. However, the heavy pressure also enabled some swift counterattacks, and the guest used one of these to increase their lead. The first Homburg goal, a header by Eichmann, came too late.
