Overall, a good result for WSV. They seem to have controlled most of the game, and Wattenscheid was lucky to escape with a draw. Given the fact that the visitors have developed into a serious title contender, the Wuppertal performance looks even better.
Everything Müller - or what?

Coach Jerat's gamble was rewarded with a point. But with goal-scoring chances 6:3 in favor of Wuppertal, they really should have won. But only Müller was able to score for the hosts, who at times attacked with four (!) forwards. After a cross by Goulet, the wily veteran was on target with a header to equalize the score at 1:1. Who else could it have been? 3 games - 4 Müller goals - 5 points.

WSV started off the match aggressively, and already in the first 10 minutes had some good scenes with Müller and N'Diaye. However Wattenscheid then counter-attacked, and the first shot ended up in the Wuppertal net.

Wattenscheid played very weak in Wuppertal, and the 1-1 draw was somewhat lucky. Already after 5 minutes WSV hit the post. Afterwards, SG was able to take the lead momentarily, as Werner Kempkens was able to take advantage of a rebound.

SG was able to defend this lead until the middle of the 2nd half, through a combination of good luck, and the sharp skills of goalkeeper Peter Martin. Then Wuppertal was able to score the deserved equalizer. A goal by the excellent Hilko Ristau was denied by the ref for an alleged climbing over the back. Frank Süs and Sergei Dikhtiar were totally worthless in the team that seemed almost bored. And stupidly, in the opening minutes captain Olaf Skok was injured, and will miss approximately 4 games with a broken nose...

Wattenscheid spielte sehr schwach in Wuppertal und war mit einem 1:1 Unentschieden noch gut bedient. Schon nach 5 Minuten traf der WSV den Pfosten. Danach ging zunächst die SG mit 1:0 in Front, nachdem Werner Kempkens einen Abpraller nutzen konnte. Diesen Vorsprung konnte 09 mit viel Glück und einem wie immer sehr guten Peter Martin im Tor bis zur Mitte der zweiten Halbzeit verteidigen. Dann schoß Wuppertal den verdienten Ausgleich. Ein Treffer des starken Hilko Ristau erkannte der Schiedsrichter wegen Aufstützens nicht an. Frank Süs und Segej Dikthiar waren Totalausfälle in einer gelangweilt wirkenden Wattenscheider Mannschaft. Dummerweise verletzte sich Kapitän Olaf Skok und muß mit eingegipster Nase ca. 4 Spiele passen.
