The
Sonoma County Fair's 37th annual Hall of Flowers will be an exciting attraction
featuring circuses of all kinds. The flower show designer, Greg Duncan, will be presenting
his fifth production at the fair, and he has worked hard to create the attraction entitled
On With The Show. Duncan's creative design showcases beautiful flowers as well as
the history of the circus. The water features, elevated walkways, tunnels, mural, animated
performing acrobats and animals, and firefighting clowns all allow the fairgoers to feel
like they are in a wonderland.
This year's flower show takes fairgoers on a journey from the early circus days to the modern circus "extravaganzas." After entering through a circus tent, fairgoers will be in awe of the 30-foot wide fountain surrounded by gardens and performing acrobats. The show continues as the fairgoers are introduced to performing elephants and sea lions. The massive mural of elephants and trapeze acts then allows the fairgoer to feel as though he or she is truly a part of the circus. The gypsy caravan and the sideshow are equally interesting, as well as the birds-eye view of the flower show along the S-shaped pathway that leads the fairgoer to Clown Alley.
Greg Duncan is excited to see the final product of all the hard work that has been put into the 27,000-square foot project. Although he is the flowers show designer, many professional landscapers, nurseries, and other people helped in creating the wonderland of flowers and circus exhibits. From July 27th through August 9th the Hall of Flowers, On With The Show, will provide amusement and enjoyment to thousands of fairgoers, and all the fruits of their labor will come to pass!
