Today, the LDS people are once again returning to the Kirtland area. In 1983, an LDS Church building was built in Kirtland. In 1986, that Church building was burned to the ground by a random arsonist. Much public sympathy and support was poured out to the LDS Church during this time. The LDS Church building shown here was built in 1987. About a month ago, in the summer of 2007, the ward was divided, and now two wards meet in the Kirtland chapel.
