At the Tyler Center for Earth and Space Education, we viewed some of DaVinci's ideas for flying machines. DaVinci said: "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever have your eyes turned skyward".
Pictured here is DaVinci's idea for an ornithopter (a machine designed to fly by flapping its wings). By standing in the middle of a huge complicated structure such as the one pictured here, and by moving his arms, legs, and head, a person would power the flapping of the huge wings, thus being able to fly.
