Unlisted IMP AEMILIANVS PIVS FEL AVG  Bust Laureate, draped, cuirassed 16.1 grams

This coin has the 'first-issue' obv legend but the reverse is only listed by RIC as a 'second-issue'.  I have seen many of these, so it is simply an unlisted variety.

SPES PUBLICA SC Spes adv. l.,holding flower and raising skirt.
40 IMP AEMILIANVS PIVS FEL AVG  Bust Laureate, draped, cuirassed

This is a most fitting reverse for Aemilian since his military victory over the Goths was his sole justification to be emperor.

Bottom coin is a low grade spare that I would be willing to trade to someone who wanted an inexpensive Aemilian sestertius.

A tooled Trebonianus Gallus Apoll Salutari sestertius.  It was on eBay being sold as real but the seller removed it when he discovered it was false, and later he offered it to me at a greatly reduced price.  There are many fake Aemilian sestertii.  Tooled coins such as this one are the most common, but cast fakes are common too (see RIC 52 below).  I try to make my website educational so I like to post examples of this sort. 16.5 g.

Here's a winner.  This is a cast of a Philip that had been tooled to look like Aemilian!  Just like the coin above, which has an obvious portrait of Gallus, the forger here has made no effort to disguise Philip.  File marks on edges, weak details, porosity throughout and poorly formed lettering.
