Need another pipe thread location to mount the Coolant
Temperature Sensor. There is one 3/8 pipe thread bung already cast
into the manifold that I can either locate the coolant sensor or the water
temperature gauge bulb. Was thinking of welding in a bung on the
driver side manifold runner but being that the manifold is made of magnesium
that might not be such a good idea. Another thought was to mount
it in the thermostat housing. The big problem there is that it would
not start to sense water temperature until the thermostat started to open.
Don't think I would like that.
There are two features in the manifold, one below
and to the left of the existing port and the other below and to the right
of the outlet flange, that look like likely candidates. These two
areas were cast so that an alternator support arm could be attached there.
The one on the right side has a little more meat around it but it looks
like it will run into the 3/8" bolt hole used for the outlet housing mount.
The one on the passenger side has a little less meat but it has the advantage
of being a little farther to the rear and clears other holes.
